Michigan State Police launches new northern cold case team

GAYLORD, Mich. – Some northern Michigan communities will be getting a boost in investigating their cold cases.

Michigan State Police’s Seventh District in Gaylord announced its brand new Cold Case Team, a new operation of its Special Investigation Section. Detective Sergeant Matt Wilt will lead the team in pursuing justice and taking a fresh look at cold cases in northern Michigan using advanced DNA analysis and new investigative tech.

MSP said it’s part of an effort to further investigations and bring closure to families across the region.
