DoorDash driver, accomplice charged in assault of Macomb County restaurant owner

Bond raised for original suspect

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – Two people are facing charges for allegedly assaulting a Macomb County business owner.

Karl Walker Jr. was arraigned Monday, April 21, with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm. His bond was set at $50,000.

According to authorities, Daveon Jahmel Godbold was working as a DoorDash driver when he became violent with the owner of Amigo Street Tacos in St. Clair Shores after being denied a food order because of a dispute over an out-of-order restroom. He reportedly attacked Jose Perez, left, and returned later with Walker to continue the assault.

Godbold was charged with five counts of unarmed robbery, assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, delivery/manufacture of marijuana, malicious destruction of property and aggravated assault.

His bond was initially set at $25,000, but a district judge increased Godbold’s bond to $50,000 on Tuesday, April 22.

Godbold and Walker have their probable cause conference scheduled for Friday, April 25. Preliminary examinations are scheduled for May 6.
