GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Summer is just around the corner, but Downtown Grand Rapids is already getting ready for fall as they get ready to welcome back ArtPrize in September.
ArtPrize is an internation art competition and cultural event held annually in Grand Rapids. This year the team is bringing a massive “dreamscape” to downtown.
This year’s theme is Arborialis: An ArtPrize Experience. The 12,000 sq. ft. 3-story exhibit will be an immersive, sensory experience with light, sound and color.
The team promises 16 days of artistic magic which includes an opening celebration, the halftime show and awards ceremony. The opening celebration will include interactive art at Rosa Parks Circle, with fireworks along the Grand River.
Other events include the Merchants and Makers Market, which will take place on Saturdays throughout the festival, which will include hundreds of regional artists and makers.
ArtPrize will take place from Sept. 18 – Oct. 4. The team is looking for regional artists and artists from across the country. Registration is open through May 30. You can register here.
