OCEANA COUNTY, Mich. – A Michigan woman won $100 playing an online game. She used some of that money to buy more lottery tickets and ended up winning a $1 million prize.

The 63-year-old Oceana County woman, who decided to stay anonymous, won the $1 million prize playing the Michigan Lottery’s Millionaire Raffle game, according to lottery officials.

“I won $100 playing an online game, so I decided to use some of my winnings to purchase Powerball and Mega Millions tickets online,” said the player. “When I was purchasing those tickets, I saw the Millionaire Raffle game and thought: ‘Why not?’ and purchased one ticket.”

The player forgot she purchased the lottery ticket until she saw an email about how to claim her prize.

“I forgot I had purchased the raffle ticket until I saw an email from the Lottery one day with information on claiming my prize. I didn’t believe it when I logged into my Lottery account and saw a $1 million prize pending. I logged out and logged back in several times and the prize was still there, so I knew it had to be real. I am still trying to wrap my head around it!”

The 63-year-old woman plans to save her prize money.

The Millionaire Raffle launched on Dec. 10 and is an auto-renewing raffle game.

For each drawing, there are 100,000 tickets available for players to purchase. Once they’re all bought, the drawing is conducted. There is a $1 million prize and 100 $1,000 prizes.

After the drawing happens, tickets for the next one are available to buy. Players can view the winning raffle numbers on the Michigan Lottery’s website.
