HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A suspect was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a Macomb County residence on Wednesday night, officials said.

At about 10:18 p.m., Macomb County deputies responded to a report of a disorderly person at a residence in the 27000 block of Riviera Drive in Harrison Township.

The suspect, identified as a 41-year-old man, was “allegedly intoxicated, destructive, and threatened to shoot the caller,” according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived, they learned that the suspect and his young son were inside the home.

As they were setting up a perimeter around the home, deputies heard a shot fired and saw the suspect holding a long gun.

They ordered the suspect to exit the residence using a patrol vehicle PA system, but he didn’t comply.

The department’s SWAT unit was activated, and they were able to get the child out of the home.

The suspect was also taken into custody without further incident, according to the sheriff’s office. He is being held at the Macomb County Jail.
