20-year-old arrested in Ypsilanti Township hit-and-run that killed naked pedestrian

A 20-year-old man from Jackson has been arrested for a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian in Ypsilanti Township.

It happened May 25, just before 2:30 a.m. on I-94, near the US-12 bypass. According to authorities, police had received reports of a naked man who was walking eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-94.

Don’t be fooled: Michigan State Police warn of scam texts claiming to be from ‘DMV’

The Michigan State Police are issuing a warning about a scam text that many people are receiving.

It claims to be from the State of Michigan DMV, so that’s your first red flag, since we don’t have a Department of Motor Vehicles; instead, we have a Secretary of State.

‘They took more than metal’: Thieves steal hope from young wrestlers in Pinckney

Brandon Kesterson, the coach of the Pinckney wrestling team, expressed his dismay over the recent theft of scrap metal intended for fundraising.

“I want you to check out this collection of wire and scrap. It may seem impressive, but it’s not when you consider this is half of what’s left after someone came and stole it in the middle of the night,” said Kesterson.

3 Michigan State University shooting victims reach multi-million dollar settlements

Three victims who were injured at a mass shooting on Michigan State University’s campus in 2023 have reached multi-million dollar settlements with the college.

On Feb. 13, 2023, a gunman walked onto campus and killed Arielle Anderson, Alexandria Verner and Brian Fraser, as well as injuring five others at Berkey Hall and the MSU Union.

Three of the five injured, Nathan Statly, Troy Forbush and Yukai “John” Hao, reached settlements with the university totaling $29.75 million.
