Tensions rise at Hamtramck meeting as mayor asks city manager to leave amid city hall controversy

Hamtramck city leaders met Tuesday night for the first time since City Manager Max Garbarino was placed on paid administrative leave.

We’re accustomed to seeing a lot of drama during these meetings, but this one was no exception, with Garbarino trying to attend the meeting as if nothing had ever happened.

Right out of the gate, sparks were flying as Hamtramck Mayor Amer Ghalib asked Garbarino to leave the building.

Michigan DNR: Keep an eye on your trees, decks, outdoor furniture for this invasive species

While everyone is enjoying the outdoors as the weather warms up, some uninvited guests, such as spongy mother caterpillars, can spoil the fun.

Spongy moth caterpillars cluster on oaks and other deciduous trees and eat their leaves, leaving the trees vulnerable to disease and other pests. During large outbreaks of these caterpillars, debris and the BB-sized pellets of frass (droppings) they leave behind can be a nuisance.

Shares of General Motors rose before the opening bell after announcing plans to invest $4 billion to shift some production from Mexico to U.S. manufacturing plants as the automaker navigates tariffs that could drive prices higher.

President Trump signed executive orders in April, relaxing some of his 25% tariffs on automobiles and auto parts, a significant reversal as the import taxes threatened to hurt domestic manufacturers.

Eternity Brewing in Howell will close by the end of the month.

The popular microbrewery on Grand River Avenue announced they were brewing its last batch Tuesday, June 10.

Weather: Hot before cooler, wet weather revisits Metro Detroit

The thermometer is getting ready to swing in the other direction, and fast. Metro Detroit will heat up quickly, with highs jumping into the mid-80s on this Wednesday. The average high is 79 degrees, but we will not break the record high for June 11. The record, which was set in 1933, is 97 degrees.
