The 4 spots where you’re more likely to crash on I-96 in Michigan

Where are you most likely to get in a crash along I-96 in Michigan?

The Local 4 Investigative team looked at data from the Michigan Traffic Crash Facts’ Data Query Tool and broke it down to show where these crashes are happening, what day, what time, and more.

Our research identified four 2-mile-long hotspots along I-96 where crashes happen most often. The data includes crashes reported on the MTCF from 2019 through 2023.

Man suspected of shooting 2 Minnesota lawmakers is in custody after surrendering to police

The man suspected of killing a Minnesota lawmaker and wounding another crawled to officers in surrender Sunday after they located him in the woods near his home, bringing an end to a massive, nearly two-day search that put the entire state on edge.

Vance Boelter was arrested and charged with two counts of murder and two of attempted murder. He is accused of posing as a police officer and fatally shooting former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in their home early Saturday in the northern Minneapolis suburbs.

Rochester Hills community continues to heal 1 year after splash pad shooting

Rochester Hills residents are marking a somber milestone as they reflect on the mass shooting that rocked their community one year ago at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad.

“Everybody goes there frequently,” said Rochester Hills resident Leigh Coyle, recalling the wave of panic that spread through the community when news of the shooting broke. “It was this outpouring of everybody we knew sending text messages, ‘Were you there?’”

The June 15, 2024, shooting left nine people wounded, including two children, when a gunman opened fire at families at the popular community gathering spot. All victims survived their injuries.

Trump directs ICE to expand deportations in Democratic-run cities, undeterred by protests

President Donald Trump on Sunday directed federal immigration officials to prioritize deportations from Democratic-run cities, a move that comes after large protests erupted in Los Angeles and other major cities against the Trump administration’s immigration policies.

Trump in a social media posting called on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials “to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History.”

Weather: 72 hours of storm chances in Metro Detroit

More clouds mix in tomorrow with late-day shower chances. Heat and humidity will lead to stronger thunderstorm chances by late Wednesday. There is a slight (Level 2 out of 5) chance for severe weather late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night.

All threats are on the table including damaging wind gusts, large hail and an isolated tornado. We also will have a marginal risk for excessive rainfall Wednesday and Wednesday night that could lead to isolated flooding.
