6 Michigan lawmakers identified on ‘hit list’ linked to Minnesota political shooting suspect

Michigan lawmakers are among 45 elected officials named on an alleged hit list discovered during the investigation of the suspect in the shooting of two Minnesota state lawmakers and their spouses.

Federal authorities have charged Vance Boelter, 57, who they say “stalked his victims like prey” and “shot them in cold blood.”

The discovery of the list has prompted some Michigan officials to postpone public events, while others maintain their scheduled appearances amid heightened security concerns.

Nearly 800 residents sign letter urging Gov. Whitmer to address Michigan’s role in dam disaster

Nearly 800 residents and business owners from Midland, Gladwin, and Saginaw Counties have signed a letter demanding that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer address the state’s role in the catastrophic Edenville Dam failure that devastated their communities five years ago.

The disaster, which struck on May 19, 2020, caused over $200 million in damages and forced more than 10,000 residents to evacuate.

Despite a recent favorable Court of Claims ruling allowing victims to pursue legal action against the state, affected residents say they’re still waiting for a “meaningful” resolution.

Oakland County jury awards nearly $77M to man who lost fingers in Kroger chemical explosion

Pipefitter journeyman and HVAC technician Brian Mierendorf, 37, was awarded nearly $77 million after a devastating refrigerant explosion at a Kroger in Bloomfield Township.

Attorney Jon Marko of Marko Law announced Tuesday (June 17) that an Oakland County jury rendered a record-breaking verdict against the Kroger Company of Michigan, well over $77 million on behalf of Brian and Heather Mierendorf.

Scattered to numerous severe thunderstorms are possible as early as Wednesday afternoon. The first round of storms could possibly start as early as 11 a.m., and they should be out by around 4 p.m.
