Two campgrounds in Michigan have been named among the best in the Midwest.
The Dyrt, a site that provides resources for campers, compiled a list of the best campgrounds in the Midwest. The list was put together based on reviews and ratings from the site’s community of campers.

The two Michigan campgrounds are the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Backcountry Sites in Munising and the Northern Exposure Campground & RV Park in Mesick.
Here’s what to know about each of these campgrounds:
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Backcountry Sites
The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Backcountry Sites can only be accessed by foot or by boat, providing campers with a more secluded experience.
The North Country Trail connects most of the campgrounds, according to The Dyrt.
Each site has a numbered post, and campers must set up their tents and hammocks within 15 feet of the post.
Bear-proof lockers are also provided for campers, and they must be cleaned out before leaving the site.
Most of the camp sites have access to water, but you’ll have to hike a short distance for water at some of them.
Campers are also advised to be prepared for the presence of black flies and mosquitoes from May through September.

Northern Exposure Campground & RV Park
The Northern Exposure Campground & RV Park is 300 wooded acres and stretches along two and a half miles of shoreline on Hodenpyle Pond in Mesick.
The campground has 220 RV sites, which have water and electrical hookups, and 40 primitive tent sites.
It is family-friendly and offers campers several amenities, including hot showers, 50-amp service, a camp store and a pizzeria, according to The Dyrt.
The North Country Trail is also located near this site for hiking.
