Although annually celebrated on June 19th, communities across Metro Detroit are extending the celebrations to continue with a variety of events and activities this weekend. Here’s a list of events that promise vibrant and fun celebrations of heritage, resilience, hope, and community:

    • Saturday, June 21, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    • Join at the Riverfront for a powerful day of health, history & community—fun run, games, wellness, & liberation! ‍
    • Saturday, June 21, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
    • The ultimate experience to see life through the lens of Black writers.
    • Saturday, June 21, 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
    • Join the city of Warren at Warren City Hall for a powerful and joyful celebration of freedom, culture, and community!
    • Saturday, June 21, 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.
    • The community is invited to the City of Romulus’ annual Juneteenth Celebration at the Romulus Historical Park for a day of gathering with family and friends to remember the past and celebrate the future.
    • Saturday, June 21, 4:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
    • Join the celebration for teaching, history, storytelling, and more.
    • Saturday, June 21, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
    • Learn about history & traditions of Juneteenth, a remembered friend Mama Ravin, and cook and eat delicious food.
