PORT HURON, Mich. – The St. Clair County Health Department has issued a swimming advisory for Holland Beach in Port Huron due to elevated levels of E. coli in the water.

The announcement was made Thursday morning (June 26).

Water samples will continue to be collected until the bacteria levels return to the acceptable range set by the State of Michigan.

More information can be found on the St. Clair County Health Department website.

E. coli bacteria are found in the digestive systems of warm-blooded animals, including humans. Elevated E. coli levels are possible after a storm or strong winds because bacteria are carried in stormwater runoff and stirred up from waves.
