Golf cart rear-ended by pickup truck kills 1, seriously injures 2 in west Michigan

Drugs believed to be factor in crash

ST JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. – A 61-year-old man was killed when his golf cart was rear-ended by a pickup truck on Michigan’s west side.

It happened just after 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, in White Pigeon Township, about 40 miles south of Kalamazoo, near the Indiana border.

According to authorities, a 61-year-old man from White Pigeon was driving a golf cart with two passengers on Lake Road when he was rear-ended by a pickup truck. Police said the 61-year-old man was killed and the two passengers were rushed to a hospital in Kalamazoo with serious injuries.

The pickup truck driver, only identified as a 56-year-old man from Bronson, was taken to a hospital in Three Rivers with minor injuries.

Police believe speed and drugs are factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
