In the grand scheme of things, there has been a Michigander who has shaped and impacted the presidency more than any other. Even more than the Michigander who literally became a president.

His name is Charles J. Guiteau.

Axe attack during Oakland County bank robbery hospitalizes 1

A bank robbery in Southfield hospitalized one person Tuesday.

It happened at a bank near the intersection of 12 Mile and Franklin roads just after 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 1.

According to authorities, a man entered the bank with an axe and demanded money. After receiving the cash, he reportedly hit an employee in the head with the axe and left.

WNBA player getting roasted for comments about city of Detroit

A WNBA player is getting roasted online for a comment she made about the city of Detroit.

Sophie Cunningham, who averages 5.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game for the Indiana Fever, spoke Tuesday about the league’s planned expansion to Detroit, Cleveland, and Philadelphia.

It was announced Monday that Detroit will receive a WNBA team in 2029, and most people inside and outside the city thought that was exciting news.

28 years ago: The time 13 twisters hit Southeast Michigan

The largest single-day tornado outbreak ever recorded in Southeast Michigan history happened 28 years ago.

On July 2, 1997, there were 13 tornadoes, and some of them were violent. There were two F3 tornadoes in Genesee County and an F2 tornado that hit the Detroit/Highland Park area.

A tornado in Genesee County killed one person and a tornado in Oakland county killed another person. Five other people were killed by strong storms in Wayne County.
