It’s part of the Racer shipwreck located in Lake Huron.
The 130-foot ship was carrying iron ore when it was wrecked on Nov. 17, 1869, according to the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
A storm drove the Racer into the rocks on Hammond Bay, and it broke apart after it was unable to free itself.
It’s a popular Michigan site for divers, snorkelers and paddlers due to its accessibility. To learn more about this shipwreck, visit here.
