Walters was charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Police said Walters was brought into the child’s home as a trusted family friend.

Last March, the child’s mother walked in on Walters sexually assaulting her child, police said.

Walters ran away, but police caught and arrested him the next day at a bus stop, they said.

During the investigation, police found that multiple assaults had occurred over the span of 7-9 months.

Walters’ trial lasted for one week. He was sentenced and then sent to prison on June 20.

“He is not even remotely scheduled to get out until the year 2050-2075,” Swanson said.
