2 women found dead in Warren kitchen had suicide pact, bought gun day before, police say

Daughter found mother, stranger dead inside Warren kitchen

WARREN, Mich. – Two women who were found dead in a Warren kitchen had a suicide pact and bought the gun the day before, police believe.

A 73-year-old Warren woman and a 75-year-old Fraser woman were found dead Wednesday by the 73-year-old’s daughter. The daughter said she didn’t recognize the second woman.

Officers said they found handwritten notes and other evidence to suggest the deaths were the result of a suicide pact.

Here’s everything we know about the case.

Police called to Warren home

Warren police and firefighters were called at 10:39 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, to a home in the 24000 block of Joanne Smith Drive, which is near the intersection of Mound and 10 Mile roads.

A caller told police that two women had been shot at the home. When officers arrived, they found a 73-year-old woman and a 75-year-old woman dead inside.

The 73-year-old woman was the owner of the home, and the 75-year-old was from Fraser, police said.

Daughter found women

Responding sources told Local 4 that the women were discovered by the 73-year-old’s daughter.

The daughter arrived at the condo complex and found the bodies. She called police and told them that her mother was on the floor, sources said.

She reported a second person, the 75-year-old from Fraser, sitting in a kitchen chair with her back to the door and a gun on her chest. The daughter said she did not recognize that woman.

Police said the Warren woman had a single gunshot injury to the head, and the Fraser woman had a single gunshot injury to her chest.

Police believe deaths were suicide pact

Investigators said they found two handwritten notes at the scene, leading them to believe it might have been a “mutually agreed-upon suicide pact.”

Police said the handgun appeared to be new, and the two women bought it together on Tuesday, July 15.

More evidence suggesting a pre-planned suicide was found at the Fraser woman’s home, according to authorities.

Sources say the two bodies were not in the kitchen for very long -- hours at the most.

Sources also said it’s clear the two women knew each other, but the investigation into their exact relationship is ongoing.

Investigation details

Dozens of police officers were at the scene to investigate the shooting. They spent hours gathering evidence and speaking with family members.

Police said nobody else was found inside the home, and there weren’t any signs of forced entry, a break-in, or a robbery.

The handgun was found at the home.

Investigators reiterated that they don’t believe anyone else was involved and there is no danger to the community.

The investigation remains open and active.
