Two men to be sentenced in sextortion case linked to Michigan teen’s suicide

Two Georgia men are set to be sentenced on Monday for their roles in a sextortion scheme that led to the death of Marquette teen Jordan DeMay.

Kendall Ormond London, 32, of Lithonia, Georgia, and Brian Keith Coldmon Jr., 30, of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, will appear in federal court after pleading guilty to money laundering charges connected to the international sextortion operation.

The case began in March 2022 when 17-year-old DeMay died by suicide after falling victim to online extortionists who obtained explicit photos of him, demanded hundreds of dollars, and threatened to share the photos online with his friends if he did not comply.

‘He had a ball with life’: Victim in Taylor shooting was days away from 15th birthday

The family of the teen killed in a shooting in Taylor Saturday night (July 19) has identified him as 14-year-old Trey Kimber.

The shooting happened in the area of Eureka Road and Pine Street around 9 p.m. According to Taylor Police, the teen was in an argument with a group of three to four others before someone pulled out a gun.

No suspects have been arrested, but police said they have descriptions of the people involved.

Law enforcement holds memorial ride for fallen Melvindale police officer

Metro Detroit law enforcement gathered Sunday to honor Cpl. Mohamed Said, who was killed in the line of duty nearly a year ago.

Officers from across the region participated in a memorial ride, beginning at the First Responders Memorial in Plymouth before ending in Melvindale, where Said lost his life during a routine stop on July 21, 2024.

Despite gray skies and intermittent rain, police cruisers and motorcyclists lined up for the procession, their sirens echoing through the streets as a tribute to their fallen colleague.

2025 Detroit Lions training camp underway

The Detroit Lions’ 2025 season is nearly underway. The team held their first practice of training camp on Sunday, and the pride is looking to become an even bigger force of nature.

The Lions kick off the NFL preseason this year on July 31 against the Los Angeles Chargers at the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.

To everyone in the Detroit locker room, last year’s season was cut short.

High pressure will bring us sunshine throughout the day on Monday and pleasant conditions. We are slightly below average today and tomorrow with highs around 80 paired with low humidity.

A warming trend begins midweek through Friday, bringing heat risks to the area. Highs Wednesday through Friday will be in the 90s, and with high humidity building in, heat indices may reach 100 degrees on Thursday.
