Swimmers to raise money for first responders in the Straits of Mackinac -- where to watch

MACKINAC, Mich. – Mighty swimmers will be taking to the waters of the Mighty Mac this weekend. They’re getting ready to raise money for first responders through the Mackinac Bridge Swim.
Swimmers will traverse the 4.5-mile Straits of Mackinac on July 26.

According to the event website, the swim will take place where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet. Participants must swim along the east side and within 100 yards of the bridge.
The swim will begin from Colonial Michilimackinac in Michilimackinac State Park in Mackinaw City in the Lower Peninsula at 7 a.m. on July 26, per the event website. The swim will end at Bridge View Park in St. Ignace. An after-party dinner will be held the that evening at the Mackinaw City Recreational Center.
