2 men sentenced to probation in sextortion scheme linked to Michigan teen’s suicide

Georgia men sentenced to probation, ordered to pay restitution

Two men were sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to money laundering in connection with a sextortion scheme that led to the death of Marquette teen Jordan DeMay.

Kendall Ormond London, 32, of Lithonia, Georgia, was sentenced to two years of probation, and Brian Keith Coldmon Jr., 30, of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, was sentenced to two years of probation with 4 months of that being home detention.

Both men made statements accepting responsibility for their roles in this sextortion scheme and were ordered to pay a restitution of about $49,000 with a money judgment of $27,000.

“I think that is unfortunate that they found themselves involved in this scam, but they are really the gateway, allowing this scam to continue, and they have to serve their sentence as well for their involvement in this,” said Jordan’s mother, Jennifer Buta.

In 2022, the Marquette teen was befriended on social media by Nigerian men pretending to be teen girls. Once the men got explicit photos from Jordan, they blackmailed him for hundreds of dollars, threatening to share the photos online with his family and friends if he didn’t comply.

Prosecutors say in total, there were 38 victims in this sextortion scheme, and 13 of them were minors.

Samuel and Samson Ogoshi, two Nigerian men who are brothers, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation and were sentenced in September 2024.

Since Jordan’s death, his mother has been warning other families of the dangers online.

“This is happening every single day to our youth, and our greatest asset at this point is education and trying to give our children the tools to reach out for help if they find themselves in a situation like Jordan’s, and the pressure gets put on and they’re asked for money, they need to reach out to an adult to get some help,” said Buta.
