Puppies up for adoption in Woodhaven after being rescued from Toledo garage
A group of puppies are up for adoption in Woodhaven after they were rescued from a garage in Toledo.
Brooks and Hoka, two resilient puppies, are two of six who were rescued from a Toledo, Ohio, home and brought to Woodhaven Animal Hospital to recover.
The Husky-lab-shepherd mixes were part of a litter of 10 puppies found in a garage in May. Four of the puppies died, it’s believed, because their stressed mother ate them. Two suffered chewed-off limbs and/or tails.
Suspects flee on foot after high-speed pursuit involving stolen vehicles in Monroe County
A high-speed chase through Monroe County concluded with the recovery of two stolen vehicles.
The incident occurred at 1 a.m. on Monday (July 21) when Monroe County Central Dispatch was alerted to three stolen Jeep Wranglers possibly entering Monroe County from Ohio.
Police said sheriff’s deputies strategically positioned themselves along I-75 in anticipation of the vehicles.
Men sentenced to combined 14 years for armed USPS robberies involving ‘arrow keys’ in Taylor, Northville
Two men were sentenced for armed robberies that targeted United States Postal Service (USPS) mail carriers.
Sentenced on Monday (July 21) were Michael Lamar Smith-Ellis, 31, of Detroit, and Terrance Tucker, 33, of Phoenix, Arizona.
Smith-Ellis and Tucker each received seven-year prison sentences.
According to court documents, in September and October 2023, Smith-Ellis and Tucker robbed mail carriers at gunpoint, and demanded their “arrow keys” or USPS master keys that can be used to access postal mailboxes to steal mail for the suspects’ gains.
‘It ended in shambles’: Birthday celebration turns violent in alleged hate crime outside Detroit casino
One man is facing several hate crime charges following the assault of a gay and lesbian couple in front of the MGM Casino in Detroit.
William Wilson, 26, of Texas, is now out on bond, but is due back in court on July 24.
“It was my 30th birthday party. We came down here to have fun, to have a good time, and it ended in shambles,” said Zach Chearhart.
