A driver has been charged after he tried to transport $23.4 million worth of cocaine across the Ambassador Bridge, according to police.
The discovery was made by the Canada Border Services Agency on May 23, 2025.

Officers at the Ambassador Bridge port of entry said they stopped a semi truck heading into Canada from Michigan.
They found 187.5 kilograms of suspected cocaine hidden in the trailer, according to police. The drugs were inside two suitcases and five garbage bags, they said.
In total, the 161 bricks of suspected cocaine are worth about $23.4 million.
“The CBSA is continually adapting to be in a position to stop criminals by disrupting their evolving smuggling and concealment attempts,” said Michael Prosia, regional director general of the Southern Ontario Region for CBSA. “We use all tools and intelligence at our disposal to stop narcotics from reaching our streets.”
Officers took the drugs and arrested the driver, Kambiz Karandish, 55, of Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Karandish and the drugs were handed over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
He is charged with importation of cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, authorities announced on Tuesday, July 22.
The investigation continues.
