Man will learn sentence for killing woman who was filling tires with air in Macomb County

A man who stabbed a woman to death in a random attack as she was filling her tires with air in Macomb County is going to learn his sentence on Thursday.

Shane Burns, 33, of Washington Township, was found guilty of first-degree premeditated murder, assault with intent to murder, felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of felony firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, disarming a peace officer and carrying a concealed weapon.

Oakland County mom accused of abandoning kids for years due in court today -- Here’s why

The Oakland County mom who is accused of abandoning her three children for years is expected to return to court on Thursday.

Kelli Bryant, 34, of Pontiac, was charged with three counts of first-degree child abuse after authorities found her three children — a 15-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old girl — living alone in squalor. She also faces welfare fraud charges.

The Pontiac mother is trying to convince a judge to dismiss her case.

Weather: Heat Advisory in effect for Southeast Michigan, isolated storms possible -- What to know

A 4Warn Weather Alert has been issued for Thursday due to high heat, humidity and storm potential.

The Heat Advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 24 for all of Southeast Michigan as high temperatures reach the low to mid-90s with heat indices peaking around 102 degrees.

The potential for thunderstorms increases this afternoon and especially this evening. The strongest storms will be capable of 60 mph damaging wind gusts and localized flooding due to the threat of downpours producing a quick 1.5 to 2 inches of rainfall.
