MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A Macomb County man was charged in connection with crashing into another person’s vehicle twice during an argument, officials said.

Michael Dedaj, 28, of Sterling Heights, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, which is a four-year felony, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

The charges stem from an argument that started at the Puff Cannabis Company in Utica on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

While on a side street, the argument escalated, and Dedaj allegedly used his red Dodge Charger to crash into a white van that was occupied by a driver and his passenger.

After Dedaj crashed into the van twice, its driver, a CPL holder, fired multiple shots at Dedaj, grazing him, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Dedaj was arraigned on Wednesday, July 30.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney John Paul Hunt had requested a $50,000 cash/surety bond, but Magistrate Jim Verploeg set Dedaj’s bond at $30,000 cash/surety, 10%.

If Dedaj posts bond and is released, he must wear a tether and cannot have any contact with the victim or members of the victim’s family.

He also cannot go within two miles of the victim’s house, and he cannot consume alcohol or drugs or have any weapons.

His probable cause conference is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 11, and his preliminary examination is set for Monday, Aug. 18.

“Violent and reckless behavior on our roads puts everyone at risk. My office remains committed to holding accountable those who choose to escalate arguments into criminal acts,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
