Ada Valley Meat Company is recalling more than 1,000 pounds of frozen ground beef because it may contain pieces of metal.

On Tuesday, July 29, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service stated that the recalled ready-to-eat ground beef was shipped to distributors in California, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The recalled product was packaged in 20-lb cardboard box cases that contain four 5-pound plastic bags of the fully cooked frozen ground beef.

The labels on the recalled beef have the “EST. 10031″ establishment number inside the USDA mark of inspection, and include the following details on the label:

  • Pack Date 5/28/25 with lot code 35156 -or-
  • Pack Date 5/30/25 with lot code 35157

Officials say the problem was discovered after a consumer had reported finding pieces of metal inside the product.

No injuries have been reported due to consuming the recalled beef, according to the FSIS.

The FSIS is concerned that the recalled beef may be in institutional freezers. Any institution that purchased the product is urged not to serve it, and either throw it away or return it to the place where it was purchased.

Anyone with questions about the recall can call Gerrit Rozeboom, the president of Ada Valley Gourment Foods, at gerrit@adavalley.com.
