Two children were shot early Thursday morning on Detroit’s east side.
Detroit police confirmed they are investigating a shooting that happened in the area of McNichols Road and Van Dyke Avenue on July 31.
Jackknifed semi-truck causes I-696 to shut down for hours
A jackknifed semi-truck caused I-696 to shut down for hours early Thursday morning.
It happened at around 3:30 a.m. on July 31.
Michigan State Police said there were no injuries in the crash, but traffic was backed up for miles.
Thief steals $50K worth of Pokémon cards from Sterling Heights store
Jonathan Gappy loves Pokémon cards.
“Pokémon was like our first love,” Gappy said on Wednesday inside his store, First Edition Finds. “We grew attached to a lot of these characters, so I think that stuck with a lot of us and still does to this day, even 30 some plus years later.”
When Gappy opened the store a couple of months ago, he pictured it being a space where kids of all ages could buy, trade, and pull cards. However, that changed just after midnight on Wednesday, July 30.
Driver critically injured after being thrown from car in crash, hit by passing vehicle on I-94
A person is critically injured after a single-car crash early Thursday morning.
Michigan State Police responded to westbound I-94 near Concord Avenue on July 31 at around 1:30 a.m. for a report of a single-car crash.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they found a car on fire and blocking the right and center lanes.
Weather: Showers stick around in Metro Detroit, Air Quality Advisory continues
Mainly steady, light showers will stick around early this morning with a few pockets that are a bit heavier. Heavier rain chances are mainly confined to along and south of I-94. Most of this should be out by midday.
An Air Quality Advisory remains in effect for all of southeastern Michigan until midnight. Metro Detroit has some of the worst air quality in the world right now due to the wildfire smoke moving in from Canada. This will also be the coolest day as high temperatures only top out in the mid-70s.
