Florida man extradited to Michigan for 2010 sexual assault

Extradition follows a decade-long delay in sexual assault case

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A 40-year-old man living in Florida has been extradited to Michigan to face charges of sexual assault.

Al Allan De Los Santos Mueses is accused of sexually assaulting a fellow student when he was enrolled at Western Michigan University in 2010. He allegedly assaulted a 20-year-old woman in his apartment after meeting her on campus.

The assault was reported to university police, but no charges were issued at the time.

Mueses was arrested on July 11 in Miami and extradited back to Michigan. He was arraigned Monday, July 28, on four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was granted a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court Aug. 7.
