Those living around Selfridge Air National Guard Base will notice a massive military presence beginning Saturday. It’s all part of training exercises.
More than 7,500 armed forces members will attend Northern Strike (NS) 25-2, one of the Department of Defense’s largest reserve component readiness exercises. It’s happening across the state from Aug. 2 to Aug. 16.
Participants from 36 states and territories and nine international partners will take part in training scenarios involving homeland security and defense against unmanned aerial systems.
Detroit man waits for wife at job, fires several shots, pistol-whips her when she arrives
A Detroit man is accused of showing up at his wife’s job in Sterling Heights, shooting at her several times and then pistol-whipping her after she tried to run away, officials said.
Deshawn Flood, 37, was charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and three counts of felony firearm," according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. He faces up to life in prison on the assault with intent to murder charges.
‘His mission was to kill’: Maintenance worker fatally shot at Royal Oak apartment complex
A maintenance worker was fatally shot Thursday at Devon Park Apartments in Royal Oak after attempting to intervene in a dispute between tenants, police said.
The victim, identified by residents only as Greg, was shot multiple times in the parking lot of the complex near 13 Mile and Crooks roads, across from Royal Oak High School. The shooting occurred just before noon on July 31.
According to witnesses, the incident began when the alleged shooter, who was reportedly being evicted, confronted another tenant.
