9 victims in Traverse City Walmart stabbing released from hospital

11 hurt in stabbing; suspect being held on $1M bond

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Nine of the 11 victims injured in the stabbing at a Walmart in Traverse City have been released from the hospital, officials said.

The stabbing happened at about 5 p.m. on July 26. Police are still working to determine a motive in the attack.

Bradford James Gille, a 42-year-old from Afton, has been charged with one count of terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder.

He is accused of using a folding knife with a 3.5-inch cutting blade in the attack.

All of the victims were taken to Munson Medical Center after the attack.

As of Aug. 6, 2025, nine victims have been released, while two were treated and transferred.

The hospital included the following in its final update about treating the victims:

“We also extend our deepest gratitude to the bystanders who stepped in to care for the injured and helped to stop the suspect before law enforcement and EMS arrived. Your courage and compassion exemplify the strength of our community.

To our law enforcement partners and EMS teams, thank you. Your rapid response and coordination were essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone involved.
