GRATIOT COUNTY, Mich. – An attorney is under investigation after smuggling contraband items, including Suboxone, to their client at Central Michigan Correctional Facility on Monday.
According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, the attorney was seen passing a package to their client, who is currently incarcerated, on Aug. 4, 2025, during a visit.

When the prisoner was searched, officers found 211 strips of paper film believed to be Suboxone, 68 grams of a “brown waxy-substance” and 45 grams of white powder.
Suboxone is a medication primarily used to treat opioid use disorder.
Michigan State Police continued the investigation and found more Suboxone strips and white powder while searching the attorney’s car.
The attorney is under investigation by Michigan State Police, and the prisoner is undergoing discipline and investigation according to the department’s policy.
The Department of Corrections said the suspects’ names will not be released yet for safety and security reasons.
