Man extradited from Georgia to stand trial in Michigan for 2008 sexual assault

HILLSDALE COUNTY, Mich. – A man extradited from Georgia to Michigan on sexual assault charges will stand trial.

James Carter was charged in March with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes.

Carter is accused of sexually assaulting a minor and accosting her, along with a second victim, for immoral purposes. The Hillsdale County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office initially issued charges against Carter in 2011.

On Wednesday, Aug. 14, Carter was bound over to stand trial in Hillsdale County on four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes. If convicted, Carter could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
