The Michigan Wolverines football program faced NCAA penalties Friday after a lengthy investigation into the Connor Stalions sign-stealing scheme.

The NCAA announced a three-game suspension for head coach Sherrone Moore, show-cause orders for assistants Connor Stallions and Jim Harbaugh, and significant financial penalties.

The punishments surprised some who had expected harsher consequences, such as postseason bans or the vacating of wins.

38 years later: Flight 255 crashes after takeoff from Detroit Metro Airport

It’s been 38 years since Northwest Airlines Flight 255 crashed onto I-94, killing all but one passenger.

The aircraft took off from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, and was airborne for all of 14 seconds before the crash along Middlebelt Road and I-94.

Flight 255 is one of the deadliest plane crashes in United States history.

Weather: Sunshine, heat, humidity and storm chances return for Metro Detroit on Saturday

Expect the sunshine to continue into the start of the weekend on Saturday, but it will be hotter and more humid looking ahead into the start of the weekend. Expect high temperatures to warm into the lower 90s by the time we get to Saturday afternoon, but once you factor in the humidity, expected index values to rise into the mid to upper 90s by Saturday afternoon. If you’re going to be spending any time outside on Saturday, the Woodward Dream Cruise is happening this weekend. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water, and have that SPF 30 or better at hand throughout the day.
