Inkster man killed while riding bike near home in broad daylight

An Inkster man was shot and killed while riding a bicycle near his home in broad daylight, police said.

The shooting happened Wednesday (Aug. 20) at 3:56 p.m. in the 3100 block of Hickory Street, not far from Michigan Avenue.

Anthony Hasley, 41, also known as “Slim,” was already dead when police officers got to the scene. Now, his family is now calling for answers and justice.

Michigan orthodontist accused of exploiting children through SnapChat

A 43-year-old man who used to work as an orthodontist outside Grand Rapids is facing multiple child exploitation felonies.

According to authorities, the investigation began after a 16-year-old told their therapist that they had been sexually exploited. Using SnapChat and CashApp records, police were able to identify the suspect as Thomas Shannon.

Police reviewed the phone and SnapChat records, which reportedly revealed additional victims, including one as young as 12 years old. Authorities said another victim came forward, explaining she met Shannon online and that he pressured her into sexually explicit conduct during a video chat.

Lions WR TeSlaa thought NFL draft day call was a prank

Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa opened up about his draft day experience during an appearance on the St. Brown Podcast with teammate Amon-Ra St. Brown and Equanimeous St. Brown.

When asked if he received any prank calls during the draft process, TeSlaa said, “No, thankfully no. That’s good.”

He admitted he was initially worried the call might be a prank. “I was a little worried when I first picked up the call that I was going to be a prank call and I was going to be devastated,” TeSlaa said.

Weather: Seasonal weather to end workweek, then some weekend rain, storm chances in Metro Detroit

Seasonable temperatures and dry weather are expected again Thursday and Friday.

Decreasing clouds with highs will be in the upper 70s, close to 80. We then rise into the low 80s Friday and Saturday.

There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms late Saturday and Saturday night as a cold front tracks through the area dropping highs back into the 70s for the second half of the weekend.
