Macomb County residents plead guilty in $3 million fraud case
Three Macomb County residents have pleaded guilty in a multimillion-dollar Paycheck Protection Program (“PPP”) fraud scheme.
Rita Shaba, 39, of Macomb and Samer Kammo, 45, of Shelby Township, pleaded guilty Tuesday, Aug. 26, to conspiring to commit wire fraud and bank fraud. Christina Anasi, 35, of Shelby Township, previously pleaded guilty to the conspiracy.
All three were initially charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud, false statements in connection with a bank loan, and aggravated identity theft.
35-year-old man charged with groping 16-year-old girl at Oakland County supermarket
Nathan McDonald, a 35-year-old resident of Oakland County, was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The incident occurred on Sunday (Aug. 17) when police said a 16-year-old girl was shopping at the Oakland Township Kroger with her mother.
Police find multiple warrants on Detroit driver accused of speeding, resisting arrest on I-75
A traffic stop for speeding led to Michigan State Police learning that the driver had multiple warrants for his arrest.
A Michigan State Police trooper pulled over a driver traveling 104 mph on I-75 near Huron River in Rockwood on Aug. 25 just before 7 p.m.
Authorities said that the trooper interviewed the 36-year-old driver from Detroit and learned he didn’t have a license.
‘I didn’t do anything on purpose’: Detroit mom sentenced after 4-year-old son dies from fentanyl
A mother has been sentenced to decades in prison after she gave her son drugs while they were alone in the child’s bedroom at their Detroit home, which caused him to go into cardiac arrest and die.
Chavon Caprice Boone, 42, of Detroit, was sentenced to 22-40 years in prison on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025.
The prosecutor said the boy’s father was not present for the sentencing because he’s had a difficult time dealing with his son’s death, and has broken down in tears on every phone call they’ve had.
