Motorcyclist arrested after high-speed chase, crash in Macomb County

A man has been taken into custody after evading police on a speeding motorcycle and crashing in Shelby Township.

According to authorities, the motorcycle entered the area on July 29 after eluding police from a nearby town who tried to stop the rider. Shelby Township police spotted the motorcycle and also attempted to stop it, but the rider sped off. The officer did not pursue.

Crews battle massive house fire in Oakland County

Crews were battling a large house fire in Independence Township early Thursday morning.

The home on Forest Valley Drive, located near the intersection of Clarkston Road and Clintonville Road, caught fire at around 5 a.m. on Aug. 28.

Michigan woman expected to survive after Amish buggy struck by semi truck

A 61-year-old Amish woman is expected to be OK after the buggy she was in was struck by a semi truck.

It happened just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, in Beaverton Township, about 20 miles northeast of Mount Pleasant.

Airborne black mold forces closure of Oakland County elementary school until further notice

Delta Kelly Elementary School in Oakland Township was closed on Wednesday and will be closed until at least next Tuesday, Sept. 2, after an airborne form of toxic black mold was discovered in the building.

The mold was discovered after a leaky classroom window was fixed on Monday (Aug. 25), which was the first day of school.

The Rochester School District apologized for the delays in an email to parents.
