Pontiac crash leaves 3 dead, including 2 children

A car crash in Pontiac has claimed the lives of three people, including two young children.

The accident occurred at 8:20 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at the intersection of Montcalm and Joslyn Roads.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a 21-year-old Pontiac resident was driving a Honda Civic that veered into oncoming traffic, left the road, and hit several signs and poles before returning to Montcalm Road.

Bryce Underwood, Justice Haynes rewrite history as Michigan football mauls New Mexico in front of 110K+

The No. 14-ranked Michigan Wolverines took down the New Mexico Lobos 34-17 in historic fashion under the lights inside The Big House in the most hyped game in recent history.

In a sold-out, packed house (110,648 fans) on Saturday, (Aug. 30), everyone came to Ann Arbor to see the debut of five-star recruit Bryce Underwood, and he did not disappoint as he put on a show for the ages.

Underwood finished with 251 yards, one touchdown, while completing 21-31 attempts, while Justice Haynes toted the rock 16 times for 159 yards and three touchdowns, both Michigan records in player debuts in program history.

18-year-old sentenced for murder in deadly Macomb County crash that killed pregnant woman

The teen found guilty of murder and several other charges in connection with a Sterling Heights crash that killed a woman and her unborn child will spend at least 25 years behind bars.

Travion Twon Deangelo Smith, who was 16 at the time of the crash, was found guilty of second-degree murder, gross negligence causing the death of a fetus, first-degree fleeing and eluding and two counts of reckless driving causing serious injury in July 2025.

The crash happened on Aug. 12, 2023, after police tried to conduct a traffic stop on Smith while he was heading northbound on Van Dyke Avenue at 15 Mile Road.

Detroit police want help finding missing 17-year-old girl

Police are seeking information about a 17-year-old girl who went missing in Detroit.

Dajenea Moore left her residence without permission on Wednesday (Aug. 27) in the 2900 block of Oakman Blvd., and failed to return home.

She was last seen wearing a gray and red hooded sweatshirts, and black pants.

Weather: Continued sunshine and cooler temperatures for Metro Detroit on Sunday

We will continue the trend of drier weather looking ahead into the end of the holiday weekend on Sunday.

High pressure will continue to control the forecast through the end of the weekend and start of next week on Monday.

Mostly sunny skies can be expected both days, and we will continue with a gradual warming trend into early next week.

High temperatures into the upper 70s on Sunday, and Monday will warm into the lower 80s by the time we get to Tuesday.
