ST. IGNACE, Mich. – The Mackinac Bridge hosted its 67th annual bridge walk, with over 33,000 participants enjoying the event.

“It was a picture-perfect day, with bright blue skies and a mild breeze,” Bridge Director Kim Nowack said. “About 33,000 people enjoyed this beautiful day and walked the bridge, with roughly 3,000 more participants taking the trek than in 2024.”

This year’s event continued the successful format of starting from both St. Ignace and Mackinaw City, eliminating the need for busing and providing more options for participants.

The bridge was closed to vehicle traffic at 6:30 a.m. to accommodate the walkers and reopened at noon.

The Mackinac Bridge Walk has been a yearly tradition since 1958, except for 2020 when it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The increased turnout this year highlights the enduring charm of the bridge walk, providing participants with a unique chance to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Straits of Mackinac while honoring a cherished Michigan tradition.
