Bond set at $250K for Macomb County man accused of possessing child porn

WARREN, Mich. – A Macomb County man has been charged in connection with possessing child sexually abusive material, officials said.

Kevin John Buchanan, 36, of Warren, was charged with the following, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office:

  • Three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material. Each charge is a felony, punishable by 10 years in prison.
  • Three counts of using a computer to commit a crime (related to aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material). Each charge is a felony, punishable by 10 years in prison.
  • One count of possession of child sexually abusive material. This charge is a felony, punishable by four years in prison.
  • One count of using a computer to commit a crime (related to possession of child sexually abusive material). This charge is a felony, punishable by four years in prison.

Buchanan was arraigned on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, and his bond was set at $250,000, 10%. If he posts bond and is released, he must wear a GPS tether and he cannot have any contact with minors.

He also cannot use any electronic device that can connect to the internet, officials said.

“Those who possess this material are not passive observers, they are fueling the cycle of abuse,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Our office will relentlessly pursue charges to protect vulnerable children and to deliver justice on their behalf.”
