SPRINGDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two people are expected to be OK after a small plane crash in Manistee County.
It happened Sunday, Sept. 7, at about 9:30 a.m. in Springdale Township.

First responders found the plane caught in a tree and leaking fuel, prompting hazardous materials management personnel to be called to the scene.
Both the pilot, a 53-year-old man, and the passenger, a 49-year-old woman, were already outside the plane when first responders arrived. They are residents of Beulah, about 25 miles southwest of Traverse City.
According to authorities, the pilot said they had taken off from the Thompsonville airport and experienced an electrical issue that caused engine failure. He was attempting to land in a field when the plane struck the trees.
The pilot and the passenger were evaluated at the scene and were not in need of hospitalization.
