SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man in Macomb County was given a $500,000 bond after being arrested on suspicion of driving drunk for the seventh time.
It happened Friday, Sept. 6, near the intersection of 23 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue in Shelby Township.

According to authorities, police spotted a vehicle with an unregistered license plate and pulled it over. The driver, identified as Wayne Bowers, reportedly smelled of alcohol. He was arrested after a field sobriety test.
Police confirmed this was Bowers’ seventh operating while intoxicated (OWI) arrest.
When police searched the vehicle, they reportedly found cocaine in the center console and the registration on the license plate had been stolen.
On Monday, Sept. 8, Bowers was charged with operating while intoxicated (third offense), possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended (second offense), and operating an unregistered vehicle. His bond was set at $500,000.
