Nearly two days after Charlie Kirk was shot and killed in Utah, federal officials announced the arrest of the suspected shooter.
Kirk, a conservative activist, was fatally shot during an event he was hosting at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

The suspected shooter, Tyler Robinson, was arrested Thursday night. The charges against him are pending.

President Donald Trump announced that authorities had made an arrest while talking on Fox News on Sept. 12.
Following the president’s statement, the FBI and the Utah governor’s office held a press conference revealing details of the suspect.

At around 8:29 a.m., the suspected shooter arrives on campus in a grey Dodge Challenger wearing a maroon T-shirt, light-colored shorts, a black hat with a white logo and light-colored shoes.
At 12:23 p.m., Charlie Kirk was fatally shot while he was having a conversation with someone at his event.
At around 12:39 p.m., police arrived and secured the scene.
Sept. 11, 2025
At 10 a.m., the Salt Lake City FBI released the first set of photos of the suspected shooter and asked the public for help identifying him.
At 10:45 a.m., the FBI announced a reward would be offered for anyone who gave information leading to an arrest.
At around 8 p.m., Utah Governor Spencer Cox held a press conference with law enforcement, where they released new videos and images of the suspected shooter.
At around 10 p.m., law enforcement received a call from the suspected shooter’s family and turned him in. Officials said he was wearing similar clothes to what was seen on surveillance video.
The suspected shooter is currently in jail. Charges against him will be announced sometime next week.
