Detroit Lions destroy Ben Johnson’s Bears in must-win matchup

The Detroit Lions destroyed Ben Johnson and the Bears in a must-win Week 2 matchup at Ford Field.

After dropping the opener against the Packers, the Lions couldn’t afford to fall to 0-2 in the division in a home game against the Bears.

But they left little doubt, keeping the Bears at arm’s length during the first half and then running away with the game in the third quarter.

The four workers charged in the death of a 5-year-old boy who was killed in a hyperbaric chamber explosion at a health care facility in Oakland County are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Michigan health officials alarmed by surge in Lyme disease cases

Health officials across Michigan are raising alarms about a significant surge in black-legged ticks, which carry Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports a 168% increase in Lyme disease cases statewide over the last five years, with 1,215 cases in 2024 compared to 452 in 2020.

5K in Belle Isle raises over $200,000 for brain cancer research

Experts say brain cancer is one of the most aggressive and underfunded forms of cancer. On Sunday, hundreds gathered to raise money and awareness.

The goal was to raise $200,000. Head for the Cure has already surpassed that, all thanks to the generosity of Metro Detroiters.

Around 2,000 people packed Belle Isle early Sunday morning, raising money for brain cancer research.

Weather: Metro Detroit to see highs soar nearly 10 degrees above normal this week

Patchy fog is possible mainly in northern communities this morning. Fog development has been much patchier compared to yesterday, with most reports north of I-69.

Otherwise, the region is in for an extended stretch of dry conditions with highs well above average this week. Temperatures will be nearly 10 degrees above normal, accompanied by sunshine.
