Michigan woman sentenced for murder after stabbing husband 14 times

Charge reduced from first-degree to second-degree murder

IRONS, Mich. – A 69-year-old woman will likely spend the rest of her life behind bars after murdering her husband.

Betsy K. McIntyre was sentenced Monday, Sept. 22, to 20 to 40 years in jail after she pleaded guilty to stabbing her husband to death in August.

According to authorities, McIntyre stabbed her husband 14 times. The two lived in Irons, about 45 miles south of Traverse City.

She was initially charged with first-degree murder, but her plea agreement reduced the charge to second-degree murder.
