Major water main break in Oakland County continues to cause problems

Parts of southern Oakland County are continuing to experience water service disruptions following the rupture of a 42-inch transmission water main on 14 Mile Road, just west of M-5 and before Novi Road.

A boil water advisory remains in effect for affected areas as repairs continue.

The break caused widespread water pressure loss across Novi and parts of Walled Lake and Wixom, affecting homes, schools, and businesses.

Michigan leaders reach tentative bipartisan budget deal ahead of October deadline

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks, and Speaker of the House Matt Hall issued statements after the legislature reached a tentative agreement to pass the School Aid budget and state budget, including long-term road funding, before the fiscal year ends.

The bipartisan budget agreement, which was reached on Thursday (Sept. 25), includes top priorities from both Democrats and Republicans.

The deal is said to aim to lower costs for Michiganders, reduce waste, increase government efficiency, and help residents thrive.

Men arrested after fleeing hit-and-run crash that killed woman on Detroit’s east side

Two men were arrested after they fled a hit-and-run crash that killed a woman on Detroit’s east side.

The incident occurred on Thursday (Sept. 25) around 5:55 p.m. on Schoenherr Road and East 8 Mile Road.

Police said the two men were driving in a Jeep Grand Cherokee that struck and killed a woman driving a Lexus.

‘Didn’t want him to get any other kids’: 12-year-old victim ‘a hero’ in Macomb County rape case

A 12-year-old girl who police say was pulled off the sidewalk and raped at the home of a man in Macomb County explained why she came forward to tell her story.

“Because I didn’t want him to get any other kids,” she said.

Police arrested 52-year-old Andrew Logan Williams in connection with the alleged assault in Eastpointe.

It happened on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. -- a day when the girl had no school.

Weather: Fantastic Friday ahead of warm, mostly sunny weekend in Metro Detroit
