Community rallies around victims in Grand Blanc Township church attack

Chaos and tragedy during Sunday service in Grand Blanc Township.

Police are searching for a motive after a gunman targeted the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township and set it on fire. As the community mourns, investigators fear there may be more victims.

The attack sent shockwaves through the community and people came together to support the church members who were attending the service when the shooting happened.

Jennifer Crumbley’s request to sever appeal from husband’s denied -- here’s what that means

 Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of the Oxford High School shooter, has had another request denied by the courts.

The Crumbleys were sentenced to 10-15 years in prison on involuntary manslaughter charges after their son killed four students and injured seven other people at the school on Nov. 30, 2021.

Police respond to Grand Blanc Township church attack within minute of 911 call

Police arrived at the Grand Blanc Township church attack scene roughly 30 seconds after receiving the 911 call.

At least 10 people were injured and at least four were killed during the attack.

During a press conference Sunday, Sept. 28, Police Chief Bill Renye said they received a 911 call at 10:25 a.m. about a shooting at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on McCandlish Road.

Police believe family member lived with dead relative in Oakland County home for ‘extended period’

Police believe a family member was living with their dead relative inside an Oakland County home for an “extended period” of time.

The discovery was made at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at a home in the 4600 block of Hedgewood Drive in Bloomfield Township.

Weather: Dry, warm end to September in Metro Detroit

Feeling more like August as we round out the final days of September. We are waking up to temperatures on either side of 50. Sunshine will return today in full force. Temperatures will rise again into the low 80s. Just like yesterday, these high temperatures are on par with the average high for the month of August at DTW.
