GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. – We’re learning more details about the explosives that were found in the pickup truck used in the Grand Blanc Township church attack.
A 40-year-old Burton man rammed a silver pickup truck into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, police said.
He then got out of the truck and fired shots from an assault rifle before lighting the church on fire, according to authorities.
Four people were killed and eight others were injured. The shooter is also dead after being confronted by authorities in the parking lot following the attack.
Local 4 learned Sunday afternoon that improvised explosive devices were found in the pickup truck. For that reason, authorities believed there could be explosives at the man’s home, so they called the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad and armored FBI vehicles to help with the search.
That scene was cleared Sunday night.
