Michigan lawmakers pass state budget bills

The Michigan House and Senate voted and passed state budget bills overnight, which are now being sent to Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s desk for her final signature.

Michigan lawmakers passed the bills late Thursday night into Friday morning. One of the bills includes ending sales tax on gas for cars.

Feds reveal Michelle Brannon’s luxury lifestyle, new evidence in forced labor case

Court documents revealed the luxury lifestyle one of the two church leaders was living prior to her arrest, as well as evidence federal agents recovered supporting the forced labor and money laundering allegations against the church leaders.

The documents were revealed during a bond hearing for one of the church leaders who was extradited from Florida to Michigan to be arraigned on federal charges on Sept. 30, 2025.

Day 2 of testimonies in trial for men accused of posing as DTE workers, killing Rochester Hills man

Nearly a year after 72-year-old Hussein Murray was murdered in his Rochester Hills home, the trial has begun for the men charged in connection with the crime.

Eight witnesses testified on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the trial of Carlos Jose Hernandez and Joshua Zuazo. Testimonies continued into a second day Thursday, Oct. 2.

Detroit limits truck routes in Southwest neighborhoods to improve safety, quality of life

City leaders announced significant new truck traffic restrictions in Southwest Detroit that will take effect Monday.

Southwest Detroit is set to see significant changes in truck traffic starting Monday as city leaders roll out new restrictions aimed at reducing the impact of heavy trucks on neighborhoods.

“I think it’s a good idea because to me the big trucks are causing more damage to the roads,” said Gwendolyn Bowling, a Southwest Detroit resident.

The summer heat returns today through Monday as dry weather ensues. Although we likely won’t break a record, with highs into the 80s, we will be in record territory the next several days:
