Detroit residents rally in ‘No Kings’ protest, Michigan GOP responds

On Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, Roosevelt Park in Detroit held one of many “No Kings” rallies taking place across Michigan and the United States.

The event drew hundreds of participants voicing their concerns about government policies and leadership.

This is the second wave of protests, following nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations held on June 14 against President Trump’s military parade in Washington, D.C.

‘Fix the damn roads’ in Macomb County: What to know about Gov. Whitmer’s new deal

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is promising to “fix the damn roads” in Macomb County with a newly signed deal.

“I am thrilled to be here in Macomb County with all of you to deliver on our promise to fix the damn roads,” Whitmer said on Monday (Oct. 13) morning. “We’re getting it done.”

Whitmer, sporting a hard hat and wearing a bright yellow workers’ vest, along with a number of local and state officials – including House Speaker Matt Hall – officially signed the roads deal during the event.

Michigan football vs. Michigan State will kick off at night on Local 4 (NBC)

This year’s meeting between Michigan and Michigan State will be a night game broadcast on Local 4.

Michigan announced late Saturday night that the in-state rivalry is once again slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on NBC.

Since the Wolverines and Spartans met on Halloween day during the COVID season in 2020, each of their matchups have taken place on the last Saturday of October.

This will be the fourth-straight 7:30 p.m. kickoff in this series.

Longtime officer files lawsuit against Michigan State Police -- what she’s alleging

A longtime member of Michigan State Police has filed a lawsuit against her former department.

Sarah Krebs, a former Michigan State Police (MSP) officer, has filed a federal lawsuit alleging systemic racism, sexism, and harassment throughout her 25-year career at the agency.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on Tuesday (Oct. 14), detailed claims of biased hiring practices, retaliation, and a hostile work environment under MSP leadership.

Weather: Rain showers, gusty winds and falling temperatures expected in Metro Detroit for Sunday

High temperatures into the 60s early in the morning, will fall into the 50s by the time we get to Sunday afternoon and into Sunday evening.

The winds will also be a concern through the second half of the weekend as well.

With a strong cold front rolling through, we could see wind, gusts and excess of 30 to 40 miles an hour and in some places, potentially a little higher.
