A new poll suggests parents can do more to encourage their children to play.
We know kids are spending more time on their phones and tablets, but experts said it’s also taking time away from the joys of being a kid.
Here are some highlights of the poll from the University of Michigan’s CS Mott Children’s Hospital:
In August, they surveyed 710 parents with kids between the ages of one and five.
One in ten parents said their young child plays outside once a week or less.
Two out of three parents said their child engages in pretend play on a typical day, and four out of ten said they get nervous when their child goes too far or too high while playing.
88% said their kids are still doing physical activities like running, jumping and climbing on a typical day.
Sarah Clark, the poll’s co-director, joined Local 4 Live to talk more about these findings. You can watch the full interview at the top of this article.
