MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A Roseville babysitter will spend the rest of her life behind bars for abusing a 23-month-old boy, which led to his death.

Kimora Launmei Hodges was found guilty by a jury in July of first-degree child abuse and felony murder.

The conviction stems from the death of a 23-month-old boy at a home on Little Mack Avenue in 2022.

The boy’s mother said she had picked her son up from Hodges, her neighbor, who had been babysitting him while his mother was at work. Authorities said Hodges had been watching the child on and off for two months.

The child was taken to the hospital and had emergency surgery for severe head trauma, but died from his injuries.

Hodges reportedly admitted to police that she had abused the child when she was arrested.

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, Hodges was sentenced to 15 to 40 years for first-degree child abuse and was given a life sentence for felony murder.
